students and employees, particularly those belonging to disadvantaged and marginalized sections of society. The cell works to provide equal access to educational opportunities and to create an environment free from discrimination based on caste, gender, religion, disability, ethnicity, language, or socio-economic background.
One of the primary responsibilities of the Equal Opportunity Cell is to promote equal opportunities in academic, administrative, and co-curricular activities. The cell ensures that students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), minorities, economically weaker sections, and persons with disabilities receive proper support and assistance in their educational pursuits. It also helps in implementing government policies, reservations, scholarships, and welfare schemes meant for disadvantaged groups.
The EOC works to prevent discrimination, harassment, and exclusion within the institution by promoting awareness about constitutional rights, equality, social justice, and human dignity. It organizes seminars, workshops, awareness programmes, and counseling sessions to sensitize students and staff regarding inclusive practices and anti-discriminatory behavior.
The cell also addresses grievances related to discrimination or denial of equal opportunities and recommends corrective measures to the institutional authorities. It coordinates with various committees and departments to ensure accessibility, inclusiveness, and student welfare across the campus.
The Equal Opportunity Cell maintains records of activities and welfare measures undertaken for marginalized groups and monitors the effective implementation of inclusive policies. Through its activities, the EOC contributes significantly to creating a supportive, inclusive, and harmonious academic environment that promotes equality, diversity, and holistic development for all students.
